Council OKs senior care center

The Las Vegas City Council, in its Jan. 26 meeting, approved a request to rezone five acres to allow for a proposed 11,602-square-foot senior day care center, a 24,082-square-foot memory care center and a 16,848-square-foot respite care center.
Five acres on the southwest corner of Buffalo Drive and Buckskin Avenue will be rezoned from service commercial to limited commercial. The council also approved a special use permit for the project.
In other business, the Las Vegas City Council:
Approved a request to rezone 41.36 acres on the north side of Racel Street, between Durango Drive and El Capitan Way from residence estates to residential planned development, to allow 238 proposed single-family dwellings.
Approved a site development plan review for a brew pub and restaurant on 1.48 acres on the west side of Tenaya Way, south of Cheyenne Avenue.
Approved a petition to vacate a public sewer easement on the west side of Hualapai Way, north of Town Center Drive.
Approved a special use permit for a minor automotive glass repair business at 6810 W. Cheyenne Ave.
Approved a special use permit for packaged liquor sales in conjunction with a grocery store at 6711 W. Alexander Road, Units 103-104.
Approved a request to rezone 4.98 acres on the east side of Jones Boulevard, south of Centennial Parkway from residence estates to civic, to allow for a proposed 75-foot-high communication monopole in conjunction with an existing church.
Approved a request to rezone 0.61 acre on the south side of Smoke Ranch Road, between Steinke Lane and Avery Drive, from service commercial to limited commercial, to allow for a proposed 8,960-square-foot, one-story retail building.
Approved a request to amend a portion of the Southwest Sector of the General Plan on the northeast corner of Alta Drive and Rampart Boulevard from medium-density residential and service commercial to general commercial.
Approved a request to rezone 31 acres on the northeast corner of Alta Drive and Rampart Boulevard from medium-density residential and service commercial which is under resolution of intent to residential planned development, to general commercial, to allow for a proposed 40,000-square-foot, 576-room, three-story nongaming resort hotel with amphitheater.
Approved a request to amend a portion of the Southwest Sector of the General Plan on the south side of Vegas Drive, west of Buffalo Drive, from parks, recreation and open space to public facilities.
Approved a request to rezone 18.57 acres on the south side of Vegas Drive, west of Buffalo Drive, from parks, recreation and open space to civic, to allow for a proposed 124,288-square-foot church including a preschool and related support uses.
Withdrew with prejudice, a request to amend a portion of the Northwest Amendment to the General Plan west of Decatur Boulevard and south of Whispering Sands Drive, from low-density residential and medium-low density residential to service commercial.
