YMCA seeks adults
for fitness program
A new YMCA program is seeking adults who are ready to get in shape.
The Ready-To-Be-Fit program includes cardiovascular and strength-training exercises. Each meeting will incorporate learning how to use new equipment and why certain exercises are done. In addition, monthly Saturday lectures will focus on nutrition, weight loss and healthy lifestyle choices.
Certified YMCA wellness staff members, who have specialized knowledge in exercise physiology and personal training, will lead participants through the 13-week program.
Session No. 1 is Feb. 1 through April 30. Registration is required by Tuesday.

AAU baseball
meeting scheduled
A mandatory organizational meeting for AAU Baseball coaches with team members ages 10-14, who plan to qualify for the 1998 AAU National Championships is scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday.
The meeting is scheduled at 3400 Procyon Ave., Suite J. Coaches must have a representative at the meeting in order to enter AAU qualifiers.

Yoga sessions set
at Black Mountain
The Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road, is holding six-week Hatha yoga sessions. The next session is scheduled for Feb. 23.
Beginning classes are scheduled from 9:30-10:50 a.m. and 6-7:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Instruction will focus on basic postures and breathing techniques to gain flexibility, strength, stamina, relaxation and enhance mental and physical well-being.
Intermediate classes are scheduled from 4:30-5:50 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and consist of progressive technical instruction in Hatha yoga physical training.
Practice classes for the more advanced student will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Western League schedules sign-ups
Western Little League has scheduled sign-ups for the 1998 season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Western High cafeteria.
Children ages 5 to 15 are eligible to compete. Parent should bring a birth certificate and proof of residency to the sign-ups.
Registration fee is $65 for T-ball and $75 for all other divisions.

County sponsoring
basketball clinics
Itty Bitty Basketball clinics, geared toward children ages 3 to 6, are scheduled Jan. 24 at the Whitney and Guinn community centers.
The clinics, sponsored by Clark County Parks & Recreation, will introduce youngsters to basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting and passing with mini baskets and balls.
The first clinic is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. at Whitney Community Center, 5700 Missouri. The second clinic is planned for 11 a.m. at Guinn Community Center, 6480 Fairbanks.
Pre-registration is required and can be taken at any Clark County Parks & Recreation Community Center. Space is limited.
Itty Bitty Basketball is a one-time clinic held on this date only. Cost is $8 per child.
Other Itty Bitty Sports programs planned during 1998 include Itty Bitty Golf, Rodeo, Camping and Soccer. Please call 455-8206 for information on all Itty Bitty activities.
