Couple to be honored with Bellagio dinner

      Temple Beth Sholom will honor Mona and Charles Silverman with a special dinner titled "L'Chaim to Life." The event will be held at Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd., beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 6.
      The Silverman's Las Vegas roots date back more than 30 years, when they began traveling to Southern Nevada to perform interior design work on various local projects. The couple will be honored for their work within the temple as well as the community.
      The annual fund-raising gala will feature cocktails, a silent and live auction, dinner and entertainment. A two-week Mediterranean cruise will be awarded as grand prize in the live auction.
      Tickets for the event are $175 per person.

      n AIDS Interfaith Ministries will sponsor a candlelight vigil for World AIDS Day. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the First Congregational Church, 1200 N. Eastern Ave.
      The vigil is a chance to remember those departed and honor those living productive lives with the virus. Events include speakers, music, drama and the reading of names of those who have died from AIDS in Las Vegas.

      n Pastor Benny Perez will attend several special events this weekend at the West Valley Assembly, 8100 Westcliff Drive.
      The popular evangelist will hold a men's breakfast at the church Saturday at 8 a.m. In addition, Perez will speak to the congregation in Sunday services.

      n Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4601 W. Lake Mead Blvd., will host a special holiday concert titled "Prelude to the Season." The event will take place Sunday at 3 p.m.
      The program will feature keyboard performances of classical holiday music by Bach, Handel and Mozart. There is no cost for admission, but donations will be accepted.
