      Pilots, fire trucks and a new backyard pool will get the attention of most 5-year-old boys -- but Zachery is far from typical.
      The young Henderson resident is battling leukemia, which makes the recent efforts of the Air Force National Guard, Nellis Air Force Base fire department and the Make-A-Wish Foundation all the more meaningful to Zachery and his family, who wanted their last name kept private.

Cadets take shine to learning

      For members of the Civil Air Patrol's Henderson Composite Squadron, cleaning planes can be an educational experience.
      "(Cleaning planes) is a cool thing to do, and I'll have fun while learning about the different parts of the airplane," said 18-year-old Cadet Basic Nadia Heeb. "I like to learn about aerospace."
