Residents revolt

      Following a vocal debate at the Aug. 17 Henderson City Council meeting and again at a well-attended neighborhood meeting two days later, city officials decided to halt further discussions on the proposed widening of Horizon Ridge Parkway until the Sept. 7 City Council meeting.
      The issue, which was first submitted at the July 29 Henderson Planning Commission meeting as part of a proposal to amend the city's Master Streets and Highways Plan, had been scheduled to be heard by the Planning Commission at Thursday's meeting.

Cram addresses growth

      Lauren Bradford's second-grade classroom was crammed with TV cameramen and reporters Aug. 20.
      Her room, decorated with alphabet letters and a map of the world, was the focal point of Clark County School District superintendent Brian Cram's back-to-school speech.
