Community Church slates music tonight

The Henderson Community Church -- United Church of Christ, Congregational, 360 E. Horizon Drive, has scheduled an evening of musical fun at 7 tonight.
      The list of talent includes Jan Ventree, a singer-pianist; First Henderson United Methodist trio, Trinity; a duet called Reaffirmed; tenor Curtis Prime, accompanied by Allene Prime; In One Accord, a six-member choral group; Mark Hawn, a young theater concert organist; and Ethel Jilbert, piano stylist, who also is chairwoman of the event.
      Admission is free; however, donations will be accepted with the proceeds going toward the building fund for the new chapel at the church. Refreshments will be served.

      n UNLV Continuing Education has scheduled a three-week course exploring the contemplative aspect and approach to spirituality within the Christian, Jewish and Islamic religions. The course is slated for Tuesday through March 9.
      Stories, music and art will be used to provide students with an appreciation of the Monastic, Hasidic and Sufi traditions, regarded as the contemplative traditions within each of these three great world religions.
      The class will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays. Course fee is $40. Those interested can call 895-3394.
      n Midbar Kodesh, the Conservative Synagogue in Green Valley, will celebrate a "Tot" Shabbat dinner and service at 6 p.m. Friday.
