Auto mall plan approved

      The Las Vegas Planning Commission unanimously approved a site development plan review for a proposed 827,000-square-foot automobile dealership facility in the Northwest.
      The proposed auto mall would include seven dealerships on 158.8 acres on the southwest corner of Centennial Parkway and U.S. Highway 95.
      The item will be the first item on the Las Vegas City Council's agenda at its Jan. 25 meeting.
      In other business in its Dec. 17 meeting, the Las Vegas Planning Commission:
      Held until Jan. 14 a request for a tentative map on 21.48 acres west of Decatur Boulevard between Tropical Parkway and El Campo Grande Avenue.
      Approved a request for an extension on a tentative map for a single-family compact lot on 0.55 acre south of Holly Avenue, east of Simmons Street.
      Approved a request for an extension for a 38,360-square-foot commercial center, a 47,520-square-foot office-warehouse and a 115,350-square-foot mini-storage facility on 18.6 acres west of Rancho Drive and south of Cheyenne Avenue.
      Approved a site development plan review for a proposed 15,056-square-foot drug store on 1.68 acres on the southwest corner of Ann Road and Rio Vista Street.
      Denied a request to rezone 17.16 acres on the south side of Tropical Parkway, east of Jones Boulevard, from undeveloped to residential planned development for a proposed 56 single-family dwelling subdivision.Zoning definitions
     
     Accessory building: A detached subordinate building clearly incidental to and located on the same lot as the main building.
      Density: The number of residential dwelling units in a specific area.
      Easement: A right of use of private property.
      Freestanding sign: Any sign supported by one or more columns, uprights or braces.
      Frontage: All the property fronting one side of a street between an intercepting or intersecting street, or between a street and right of way, waterway, end of street or city boundary.
      Lot: A parcel of land or a space within an approved mobile home park or recreational vehicle park occupied by one or more buildings.
      Nonconforming use: Land lawfully occupied by a building or land use that does not conform with zoning regulations.
      Open space: Land areas that can't be occupied by any surface design or traffic, except recreational buildings and structures as provided.
      Planned development unit: Two or more principal buildings planned as an integrated unit under single ownership or control.
      Single-family dwelling: Any detached building containing only one dwelling unit.
      Special district: Contains a limited resort and apartment zone, a general highway frontage zone, a mobile home park zone, a recreational vehicle park zone or a public facility zone.
