Connection offers
help to families
Family to Family Connection offers free services to families of newborn babies and infants up to one year.
Services include visits to new mothers in hospitals, loaning books and videos, as well as educational and reference material.
Family to Family recently opened its Baby Center at 600 S. Jones Blvd.

Census Bureau
seeking employees
The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking 250 people to earn competitive wages as Census Takers beginning March 1. Testing for these positions is underway.
The workers are responsible for locating households, listing addresses and conducting interviews with people at their homes. Applicants should be at least 18-years-old. Preference is given to U.S. citizens, but non-citizens with language skills may be considered based upon availability.
Those interested should call the nearest Nevada Employment Security Division office, or the Census office at 388-6820.
Community program
seeking volunteers
Community Action Against Rape needs volunteers for its hot line, speaker's bureau and court monitor programs.
Volunteer Crisis Orientation Training Classes will begin Feb. 1, but applicants must be pre-screened before Jan. 22.

Carpenter's Union
opens memorial fund
Members of Nevada Carpenter's Local Union No. 1977 have set up a memorial fund for the family of Christopher Scott Green, a worker who was killed in a construction accident at the Venetian in late December.
Checks can be mailed or sent to the Joshua Scott Green Memorial Fund at the Regional Council of Carpenter's, 501 N. Lamb Blvd.
