Program helps older students fit in

      Jennifer Shadley last hunkered down for a final exam in 1980 when she was completing her bachelor's degree at the University of Arizona.
      So it was with a bit of trepidation that the Tucson, Ariz., native enrolled at UNLV 15 years later to pursue a degree in social work that would license her for work in a home health agency.

      Keila Rodriguez reviewed the rules of shooting doughnuts in her mind before educating an anxious brood of her Cambiero elementary peers.
      "You have to try and get the doughnut into the bull's-eye," the 9-year-old said of the billiards-style game played on a square 3-foot board with forearm-length wooden sticks. "The closer your doughnut gets to the bull's-eye, the more points you get. You must follow the rules. No hands. No cheating."
