Library offers
delivery service The Pahrump Community Library offers a service where books are picked up and delivered to your home every two weeks by a member of their staff or a Friend of the Library. Those interested can call 727-5930. Helping Hands needs volunteers Volunteers are wanted for the Helping Hands project, which provides transportation for seniors and disabled residents to and from their medical destinations. To schedule a ride or volunteer as a driver, call 751-1118. Chamber set to present Pow Wow The Pahrump Chamber of Commerce will have its second annual Pahrump Valley Pow Wow from Nov. 19 to 21 at Petrack Park. The Native American cultural exchange will feature singing, dancing and arts and crafts. Those interested can call 727-5800 or 1-800-633-9378. Company offers daily trips to Las Vegas ACME Bus of Nevada offers 12 daily trips from Pahrump to Las Vegas. Cost is $10 for a round trip or $6 one way. Schedules and tickets are available at Mountain View Casino and schedules are also available at the chamber and town offices. To receive a schedule in the mail, call (702) 434-1926. Republican Party The Nye County Republican Party will stage its annual barbecue and cash bonanza from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 21. Tickets are $100 and include a barbecue and a chance to win door prizes, which include one $10,000 prize, one $2,500 prize and two $1,250 prizes. Live music and dancing will be featured, and United States congressman Jim Gibbons will be the guest speaker. |
