      Taped to Ann Bersi's refrigerator is a slip of paper with the words: "Live with the intention to walk to the edge."
      It's part of a lengthy motto the deputy district attorney has used on her journey to develop a successful legal career in Nevada -- one that has taken her from a position as executive director of the State Bar of Nevada, when she had no legal experience, to her recent rise to president of the association.

Local actor has sights set on meatier roles

Thirty years as a New York cab driver taught Johnny Casino the finer points of acting.
      On a given day, the Bronx-born "character actor" might have played tour guide, marriage counselor, psychologist, therapist, doctor or comforter. He once chauffeured "fellow actors" Sydney Poitier, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee.
      For his part, Casino looks the part -- of a character, with his disco-era dress that sniffs of Austin Powers and slicked-back, John Travolta-like hairdo.
      However, the Summerlin resident is still working on the acting. The gimmicky name and not-so-gimmicky dress have landed Casino steady film and television gigs since last year.
