Silvertones making sweet music

      No auditions. No snooty performers. No overzealous directors.
      Well, Mary Jane Smith can push the envelope sometimes, say members of the Silvertones, a collection of not-so-ready-for-prime-time singers who happen to love the limelight, but the mercurial music whiz knows when to ease the throttle. She does want her stewards, most of whom are stage novices, to enjoy singing.

Volunteering mom earns recognition

      Cindy Brook may only have two children of her own, but throughout the years, the Clark County School District parent volunteer has been called mom by countless children.
      Brook began volunteering when her daughter first started school and fully devoted herself once her son entered kindergarten.
