Lutherans plan benefit
for upcoming ballgame

Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, in cooperation with Aid Associates for Lutherans, has scheduled "Chicago Night" at Cashman Field Friday as the Las Vegas Stars play the Iowa Cubs.
One fan will win a trip package to Chicago to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the Windy City.
General admission tickets are available from AAL representatives at area Lutheran churches for $4. The game starting at 7 p.m. Non-perishable food will also be collected by the LSSN outside the stadium before and during the game.

n Congregation Ner Tamid has fun and education on the schedule for all ages this summer.
For children ages 24 months to 9 years, Camp Chaverim is scheduled June 28 through July 30, with registration for one week at $135 or for the five week session at $625. Activities will include music, drama, arts and crafts, water play, cooking, exercise and more. Daycare will also be available for a nominal fee. A non-refundable registration fee of $35 is required. Those interested can call Lois Bergman, Camp Chaverim coordinator, at 313-5270.
Adults will find many classes forming at the temple this summer including Reform Judaism in America, What Does Judaism Say About ....? Do Jews Believe in Angels? Halancha and Jewish Meditation. Those interested must enroll one week prior to the class start date and can call the temple at 733-6292 on class dates and times.
n The Presbyterians of Southern Nevada are sponsoring a tour of the Holy Land following in the footsteps of Jesus and the Apostle Paul.
Local Presbyterian pastors will lead the tour that will include Jerusalem, Masada, Qumran, the Dead Sea, Jericho, Tiberias, Sea of Gailee, Capernaum, the Jordan River, Meggido, Haifa, Mt. Carmel and Caesarea. It will also include a tour of Athens and Corinth.
An optional three-day cruise of the Greek Isles will also be available for those who would like to visit Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephebus and Pathos.
This pilgrimage is designed to help participants experience the land where Jesus was born, taught, died and resurrected.
The trip will leave Oct. 20 and return Nov. 1, including the cruise. Those interested can call the First Presbyterian Church at 384-4554.
