Students learn about police work

      A dozen area high school students got a taste of blue when they visited the Henderson Police Department on Feb. 23 as part of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce's Boss for a Day Program.
      Instead of being the boss, though, the 12 students from Basic, Green Valley and Silverado high schools and Lake Mead Christian Academy asked a lot of questions.

Survivor joins in race to find cure for cancer

      The fight against cancer is an everyday battle for Gloria Bernal, but this weekend it will be a little bit more fun.
      The 30-year-old cancer survivor is planning to take part in the American Cancer Society's Henderson "Relay for Life" event, scheduled to begin Friday at 6 p.m. in the amphitheater and adjacent parking lot at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road in Henderson.
