Traffic study leads to denial for office building complex

      The Clark County Commission denied a design review for an office building complex during its April 21 meeting.
      After a traffic study was reviewed, the commission voted to deny plans for two, single-story and two, two-story office buildings on 5.0 acres zoned for office and professional uses on the southwest corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Darby Avenue.
      In other business in its April 21 meeting, the Clark County Commission:
      Recommended to approve a zone change to reclassify 2.5 acres from a residential to general commercial zone for a restaurant and lounge on the west side of Decatur Boulevard and Sunset Road.
      Recommended to approve a zone change to reclassify 1.0 acre from residential to local business zone for a veterinary clinic on Durango Drive and Twain Avenue.
      In its April 20 meeting, the Clark County Planning Commission:
      Recommended to approve a request to vacate and abandon easements of interest to Clark County located between Hacienda and Mesa Vista avenues and between Buffalo Drive and the Lonesome Biker Lane in a single-family residential zone.
      Held variances to reduce the required setback from a township line and to reduce the required setback from a right-of-way on 0.7 acre in a local business zone on the southwest corner of Reno Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.
      Approved variances to reduce the required separation from a carport to a building, and to reduce the required peripheral setback on 10.0 acres in a multi-family residential planned unit development zone on the south side of Russell Road and east of Durango Drive.
      Approved a variance to operate a portable machine shop in a temporary trailer where a permanent building is required on 1.5 acres on Industrial Road and Sahara Avenue.
      Recommended to approve a request to vacate and abandon easements of interest to Clark County located between Quail Avenue and Oquendo Road and between Rainbow Boulevard and Santa Margarita Street.
      Recommended to approve a request to vacate and abandon easements of interest to Clark County located between Jones Boulevard and Mann Street and between Martin and Maule avenues and public rights-of-way being a portion of Pama Lane located between Bronco Street and El Camino Road, and a portion of Bronco Street located between Pama Lane and Maule Avenue.
      Approved a variance to reduce the rear yard setback on 0.3 acre in a residential zone located on the northwest corner of Cambridgeshire Street and Irish Sea Avenue.
      Held variances to permit accessory structures prior to the establishment of the principal use on 1.2 acres located on the southeast corner of Ponderosa Way and Redrock Street.
      In its April 22 meeting, the Clark County Planning Commission:
      Recommended to approve a design review to construct a convenience store with gasoline sales on 1.8 acres within the Rhodes Ranch Master Planned Community located on Durango Drive and Arby Avenue.
      Approved a use permit to establish and maintain a hypno-therapy business within an existing shopping center located on Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive.
      Recommended to approve a zone change to reclassify 5.0 acres from residential to general commercial zone for a shopping center east of Rainbow Boulevard on the south side of Windmill Lane.
      Recommended to approve zone change to reclassify 5.0 acres a local business zone to general commercial zone for a shopping center located on the northwest corner of Durango Drive and Patrick Lane.
      Recommended to held a zone change to reclassify 4.2 acres from rural estates residential to local business zone for a 41,600-square-foot shopping center and office complex between Russell Road and Dewey Drive near Durango Drive.
      Recommended to hold a zone change to reclassify 5.0 acres from rural estates residential to general commercial zone for a shopping center located on Windmill Lane and Durango Drive.
      Recommended to approve a zone change to reclassify 2.5 acres for a single-family residential subdivision.
      Recommended to approve a zone change to reclassify 5.0 acres for a shopping center on Rainbow Boulevard and Hacienda Avenue.
      Recommended to approve a design review for an on-premises sign for a single-tenant prior to the establishment of a tenant panel for a shopping center on 1.7 acres on the southwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.
