Clark students named semifinalists

      Seven Clark High School students received word they have qualified for the 2000 Merit Scholarship Competition.
      Semifinalists Nathan Dahl, Sirui Jiang, Jonathan Kight, Yu Liu, Eric Rowland, Robert Wills and Grace Wu scored above the required grade on their PSAT tests. All of the students are in Clark's Academy of Math, Science and Technology magnet program.

Local carpet company expanding nationally

      Carpet Barn continues its expansion across the nation.
      Steve Chesin, chief operating officer of Nations Flooring, Carpet Barn's parent company, recently announced expansion plans. The company, which relocated its offices to 3325 W. Ali Baba Lane, has recently opened a store in St. George, Utah, and will soon open a new store in Boise, Idaho.
