Women's group to stage fashion show

The Women's Organization of Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway in Henderson, have scheduled the "Women of the Bible -- the Fashion Show" at their fall gathering Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
Thirty biblical women -- from Eve in the Old Testament to Phoebe in the New Testament -- will be portrayed. Child care and light refreshments will be provided.

n Linda Graham, instructor of art history at the University of California at Berkeley and Community College of Southern Nevada, will be the featured speaker at the Education Evening program for the Women's Division of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Las Vegas Art Museum at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
The event will include the exhibition of 29 paintings by master Marc Chagall.
Open to the entire community, admission is $15 and includes a wine and cheese reception. Reservations are requested.

n The Sunrise Baptist Church's gospel singing group has scheduled a free concert for 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1780 Betty Lane, east of Nellis Boulevard between Owens Avenue and Lake Mead Boulevard. Those interested can call 452-8599.
n The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada will begin Yiddish Vinkle, or Yiddish Corner, at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20.
Those who enjoy speaking Yiddish or learning about Yiddish writers and performers are welcome to attend. The group will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. on the fourth floor of the JCC, 3909 S. Maryland Parkway.
The program is free for JCC members and $5 for non-members.

n Calvary Chapel Green Valley will honor Pastor John Knapp and the pastoral staff on Clergy Appreciation Day Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the performing arts theater at Greenspun Junior High School, 140 N. Valle Verde Drive.

n First Church of Religious Science, 1420 E. Harmon Ave., announced recently, due to a scheduling error, its craft fair is now set for Oct. 30 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. instead of the before-released Nov. 13 and 14.
Local crafters and artisans are welcome to participate. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 24.
