Church seeking choir members

The Desert Spring United Methodist Church recently had auditions for its children's choir, but interested singers still have an opportunity to get involved.
No fewer than five youth choirs will be assembled by age from 4 1/2 years old through seniors in high school. Those choirs include First Verse, Two Tones, Spirit Song, Harmoniers and Sound Proof.
Rehearsals begin Monday, and children from the community as well as congregates of the church are encouraged to join.
Desert Spring Church is currently meeting at Palo Verde High School, 333 S. Pavilion Center Drive until the construction of the new building.

n Pastor Robert Hancock, a biblical scholar and teacher, will present a free 24-part seminar on the bible's book of Revelation each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Paradise Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4575 S. Sandhill Road.

n Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church will have its yearly yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2002 Spring Gate Lane in the Trails in Summerlin.
Sale items include clothing, toys, a freezer, computer and an 8-foot sofa.

n Congregation Ner Tamid on Sept. 24 will have a variety of festive Sukkot events, including a family dinner as well as decorating the Sukkah, beginning at 6 p.m. with a Sukkot family service at 7:30 p.m.
Congregates are asked to bring fruit and a dairy dish that serve 10, in a disposable container, as well as a salad for attendees with last names beginning with A-H and a main dish for those with last names beginning with I-Z. Desserts and bread will not be needed.
A canned good donation will also be accepted to benefit the Jewish Family Services. These events are open to the Jewish community and are free of charge.

n The redesigned courtyard and fountain at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 6220 N. Jones Blvd., will be dedicated in a ceremony between services Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
The church is also having a Rally Day "Picnic in the Park" Sunday at noon at Children's Park, Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road. Several groups within the church are conducting games and members of the congregation are providing food.

n The Sunrise Baptist Church is sponsoring a Y2K community awareness seminar Saturday at the church, 1780 Betty Lane, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Speakers from various organizations will be there to take the guessing out of what will happen on Jan. 1. Participants can come and go throughout the day. Every speaker will be videotaped for later viewing.
Refreshments and day-care will be provided.
