      The school children knelt in the soft soil, churning up rusted nails, broken glass and metal scraps, digging up history in one of the oldest dwellings in Southern Nevada -- Kiel Ranch.
      They'd come to learn about the archeologist's trade: focusing on a small square of earth, skimming the soil into a dust pan and sifting the clumps through a steel screen -- revealing fragments of time.

New superindendent options raise opinions

      Moisis Denis requested a Spanish interpreter be at Von Tobel Middle School for a recent forum set up for area residents to voice their opinion about choosing a new school superintendent.
      The PTA president figured parents from the Hispanic community surrounding the North Las Vegas school would show up to the forum held in the school's gym.
