Lab celebrates first anniversary

      Kim Adams, a science teacher at McDoniel Elementary School, is in her element.
      The Henderson school's marine lab, which recently completed its first year of operation, has provided Adams with enough water tanks, sea creatures and coral to prove she is not what she calls a "paper, pencil and books-type teacher."

Fairing well

      Three students from the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies and Performing and Visual Arts will visit Detroit in May for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and they're using the power of perception as their tickets.
      Rachel Peterson placed first for individual projects and Margaret Ain and Margo Marie Oliver placed first in the group projects at the 2000 Southern Nevada Regional Science and Engineering Fair at UNLV in March by looking at perception in different lights.
