Congregation to welcome mayor

Mayor Oscar Goodman will have a town hall-style discussion today for the sisterhood of Congregation Ner Tamid. All questions will be welcome during the discussion.
All members of the community are invited, as sisterhood membership isn't required. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at 2761 Emerson Ave. Dessert will be served.

n Rabbi Jay Karzen, Jerusalem's bar mitzvah king, will discuss his book "Off the Wall" at Congregation Ner Tamid at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The book is a collection of anecdotes, stories and tidbits about his experiences performing bar and bat mitzvahs, weddings and funerals at The Wailing Wall. Karzen will explore the importance of being happy and about moving into the year 2000.
Karzen's book will be on sale during the program, or it can be purchased for $15.

n Student Rabbi Neal Schuster will host a viewing and discussion of the movie Mother Night at 7 p.m. Saturday at Congregation Ner Tamid. The movie is based on a Kurt Vonnegut novel about a man named Howard W. Campbell Jr. and whether he is a Nazi war criminal or an American hero.
