Families flock to Kidz Mania

      Las Vegas plays host to numerous trade shows per year, ranging from technology to floral. At Cashman Field on June 24-25, trade show participants packed the convention area to play games, participate in contests and learn how to escape from a burning house.
      At Kidz Mania 2000 family expo and fun fair, Las Vegas children traveled from fun activity to fun activity while their parents perused exhibitor booths and gathered information about raising their children in the Las Vegas Valley.

Female officers sought

      Local law enforcement agencies need to increase the recruitment efforts of female officers or continue falling below national averages, according to a group championing the need for more women officers.
      Law Enforcers for Equal Rights of Nevada (LEARN) is holding a recruitment event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Bunker Park at Alexander Road and Tenaya Way.
