Salvation Army pantry needs help
View
The emergency food pantry of The Salvation Army of Las Vegas is in urgent need of dry food donations.
Despite extra donations from Albertson's last year, the pantry received less support from recent food drives than in the past. Both the mail carrier food drive and the drive by the Boy Scouts in November yielded smaller returns than normal.
The Salvation Army food pantry is dedicated to helping people who have run out of resources to obtain food. A person may go to the pantry once every six months for help.
On the first visit, a person will receive a bag or box of food items, including dry and canned foods. The second visit provides a person with food vouchers redeemable at Raley's supermarket. Only two visits are generally allowed per person.
The food pantry is located at 35 W. Owens Ave. and serves approximately 4,000 people per month. Donations can be dropped off there or at 2900 Palomino Lane. Those interested can also call 870-4430.
