     Palo Verde High
     offers hoops camp
     
      A basketball camp is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. June 19-22 at Palo Verde High School. The camp, which is open to boys and girls in grades 3-9, costs $100.

     plans golf tourney
     
      Mountain View Elementary School will present a golf tournament June 17 at the Desert Rose Golf Course to raise funds for its athletic programs.

     Youth baseball
     clinics scheduled
     
      The Las Vegas Baseball Academy has scheduled three instructional training programs this summer for players ages 6-12. The comprehensive programs, which promise to use the same training techniques as Major League Baseball, will be offered on the east and west sides of town during the day and evening.
      The summer skill development camp is from 8 to 11 a.m. from Tuesday through June 15 at the Boys & Girls Club. The game development camp is from 6 to 9 p.m. June 19-22 at Legacy Park and June 26-29 at Boys $ Girls Club.
      The summer instructional league, which includes 12 one-hour skill clinics and 12 games, will from 6-9 p.m. July 10-Aug. 16 (for ages 9 and younger) and from July 11-Aug. 17 (for ages 12 and younger) at Morrell Park and the Boys & Girls Club.

     Junior tennis
     team claims title
     
      A junior tennis team from the Canyon Gate Country Club recently won the Nevada Tennis Association intermediate league playoffs, while another 14-and-younger team from Canyon Gate placed second in the NTA beginners division playoffs.
      The champions featured Alicia and Tiffany Cook, Jake and Alec Runyon, Samantha Vandercreek, Alexis Bananto, Ashley Barber and Dixon Leavitt.
      The runner-ups included Whitney Miller, Alexis Garrett, Shauna Morgan, Carla Campello, Harrison Gaile and J.T. Stutzman. The playoffs capped an eight-week season.
