Festival highlights cultures

      Creative minds recently came together to conjure up a multicultural mural of great size and beauty.
      The third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Squires Elementary School worked for nine months to create what they call a masterpiece of various cultures, and for that they celebrated by having a multicultural festival June 8.

      The North Las Vegas Parks and Recreation Department recently invited the community to learn more about the city's planned recreation center.
      The new center is to be built at the northwest corner of Allen Avenue and Alexander Road and will probably open sometime in early 2002.
