Cultural event honors heritage

      More than 1,000 people showed up for the Asian Pacific Culture Fair on May 6 at Sahara West Library to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
      The event served as a precursor to future cultural events that will be featured at Clark County libraries throughout the year.

Bendorf artist wins award

      Marissa Padfield, a third-grader at Bendorf Elementary School, was honored in the PTA's Reflections Art Contest for her acrylic painting, "Opposites Attract."
      Padfield won first place for Intermediate, Visual Arts for Bendorf, first place for the State of Nevada in her age division, as well as Best Interpretation state honors against all age divisions.
