Student anxiously awaits Marine lifeBy Sonya PadgettView staff writer After Eric Zander graduates from Chaparral High School in May, he'll have the opportunity to fulfill his longtime dream of starting a military career, thanks to the Marine Corps. Zander, 18, was awarded an $80,000 scholarship from the Marine Corps ROTC program to attend the Virginia Military Institute, where he will study civil engineering. Upon graduation in 2004, Zander will be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. FULL TEXT
