Links for Life

tourney May 10

The sixth annual Links for Life golf tournament is scheduled for May 10 at Anthem Country Club.

The charity, nonprofit event, which was created by Colliers International and co-sponsored by the Del Webb Corporation, has raised more than $313,000 for children's charities.

Robinson tourney

slated for April 29-30

The third John Robinson Celebrity Invitational golf tournament is slated for April 29 and 30 at The Revere at Anthem golf course.

The two-day event will start with a celebrity-only shoot-out April 29, with the 18-hole tournament to take place April 30. The tournament will benefit the UNLV football program.

Each foursome will be paired with a celebrity.

The public is invited to attend the event. Those interested can call 895-2458. The registration deadline is April 2.

Women's association

The Women's Southern Nevada Golf Association has two new addresses, at the Southern Nevada Golf House, 3590 E. Patrick Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89120 and at www.nevadawomensgolf.org.

Municipal course to

celebrate 30th year

The city of North Las Vegas Municipal Golf Course will celebrate its 30th anniversary throughout the month of April with a plethora of events.

An adult/youth alternate shot tournament is slated for 1 p.m., April 14; a senior two-person scramble is scheduled for 8 a.m., April 17; a night golf classic, two-person scramble is slated for 7 p.m. April 18; and a Las Vegas Valley par-3 championship, featuring four age divisions and men's and ladies' flights, will take place at 10 a.m., April 25.

Moran's academy

starts April 18

Coach John Moran's Las Vegas Basketball Academy is scheduled to offer a six-week spring camp, starting April 18, at the city of Las Vegas Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center.

A summer clinic, for boys and girls in grades three through 10, is slated for June 9-10 while a summer camp, for kids in grades three through 12, is scheduled for July 21 and 22.

BOXING

IBF featherweights

square off Friday

South African Mbulelo Botile (27-1, 16 KOs) and Frankie Toledo (39-5-1, 15 KOs) of Patterson, N.J., will meet Friday at Texas Station for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight championship as the 12-round main event of a seven-fight card produced by Station Casinos Inc., and Cedric Kushner Productions.

Three Las Vegas fighters are also slated to fight on the card: 22-year-old heavyweight Kelvin Davis (14-0, 10 KOs), 28-year-old heavyweight Mark Tullius (0-2) and Suzy Taylor (10-4-1, 7 KOs). Those interested can call 631-1000.

Golden Gloves gym

show July 4

A local Golden Gloves gym has scheduled a boxing show July 4 to raise funds for its gym.

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be raffled off at the show, but parents of local youth boxers are still trying to raise funds for the bike.

Summit April 17-20

The fifth annual Health and Fitness Summit and Exposition will take place April 17-20 at Paris Las Vegas.

The event, presented by The American College of Sports Medicine, will feature news, trends, demonstrations and ideas in the field of health, fitness and exercise. More than 1,200 fitness/exercise experts are expected to attend.
