HEALTH CARE

Medical centers get

reaccreditation

Rainbow Medical Centers, which has seven primary and urgent care facilities in Southern Nevada -- including one in Henderson -- has been reaccredited for three years by the national Joint Commission on Health Care Organizations.

The Rainbow Medical Centers are the only independent and urgent-care facilities to receive the accreditation by the commission, a nonprofit organization that has been developing health-care standards since 1951. The commission has accredited more than 18,000 clinics, hospitals, hospices and home-care organizations.

This is the second time Rainbow has received three-year accreditations, according to Diane Hughes, director of marketing and community affairs for Rainbow.

"The recognition means Rainbow has met the strict standards set forth by the joint commission," she said. "Including in the areas of assessment and care of patients, organization ethics, education of patients and their families, safety measures and patient confidentiality."

In Henderson, Rainbow is located at 1397 Galleria Drive.
