HIRINGS Local companies get additional staff Robert Offerman has joined IT Strategies International Corp. as an independent information technology consultant. Offerman is assigned to the Las Vegas Valley Water District, where he will participate in the analysis of the customer relationships management program. Carrie McCrea Hanlon, formerly the managing attorney of the staff law office for The Hartford, is now of counsel to the law firm of Pyatt & Sylvestri. Hanlon has been a local attorney since 1990. Nevada Title Co. has appointed Sandy Moursy as escrow officer. Moursy previously served at Central Title in California and will be responsible for processing residential resale transactions. KBA Construction Co. recently added Tracie Myers, project engineer/estimator, and Kim Thomas, assistant accounting manager, to its team.
PROMOTIONS Employees climb to new heights Daren Libonati, associate director of the Thomas & Mack Center, Sam Boyd Stadium and Cox Pavilion, has been named interim director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas's three special event and sporting facilities. He will serve during the national search for the replacement of former director Pat Christenson. Joseph A. Brondon has been promoted to general manager of XO Communications Inc. Brondon previously served as sales director. Nevada Title Co. has appointed Melody Stephens as residential broker liaison. She will be responsible for coordinating and tracking escrow activity. She previously served as executive assistant in the accounting department. Sun West Bank has promoted Rick Dreschler to executive vice president and senior lending officer. Previously, Dreschler served as Sun West's senior vice president and corporate manager. XO Communications Inc. has promoted Mark Sweeney, formerly the transport supervisor, to installation and maintenance manager. Sweeney will supervise field technicians in his new post.
MEDIA Axess Media to launch broadband campaign Axess Media Group recently announced it has entered into long-term agreements with Business Wire and other public relations and investor relations firms for reaching out to public markets throughout the United States and Canada. The company named Las Vegas-based Equity PR and other firms with which it expects to build momentum for the launch of its new public relations campaign. Axess is an internet production and multimedia company.
ORGANIZATION Pool builders unite to address concerns Several area pool builders have joined together to form the Associated Pool Industry of Southern Nevada, a group dedicated to improving the industry by assisting residents who inadvertently choose a pool contractor that fails. The association will develop a direct customer assistance program, an industry review board, and a mechanism to provide third-party support when necessary. Founding builders include Anthony & Sylvan Pools, Blue Haven Pools, Casa Grande Pools, Pools by Grube and Sterling Pools. APISN is affiliated with the Employers Association of Southern Nevada and will use its offices for operations.
APPOINTMENTS Locals receive new honors and responsibilities Maria Martinez-Riach has been elected one of Toastmasters International's district governors through 2002. Martinez-Riach will oversee 2,800 Toastmasters members in 152 clubs in Central California and Southern Nevada. The nonprofit group helps members develop and practice public speaking and leadership skills. James Beasley, president of Spanish Hills Realty, has been appointed to the Business Advisory Council, part of the National Republican Congressional Committee. The council is dedicated to making sure small businesses have a voice in Washington. Capt. Stavros Anthony of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been appointed to the board of directors of Goodwill of Southern Nevada Inc., a nonprofit organization providing training, employment and job placement services for people with disabilities. |
