GARDEN Rose bush seminar set for St. Rose Experts from the Las Vegas Valley Rose Society have scheduled a free seminar on pruning, feeding and planting roses at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at the St. Rose Dominican Hospital Siena Campus Healing Garden, 3001 St. Rose Parkway. Board members Dick Jackson and John Vinson will lead the seminar, which will give month-by-month instructions of how to grow roses in Las Vegas. The public is invited to the event. COMMUNITY Councilman plans for local meetings Las Vegas City Councilman for Ward 4 Larry Brown is scheduled to host a series of townhall meetings in January, starting today at 6:30 p.m. at Deskin Elementary School, 4550 N. Pioneer Way. The schedule for the rest of the meetings includes: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Garehime Elementary School, 3850 Campbell Road; 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at Lummis Elementary, 9000 Hillpointe Road; and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. RECREATION Registration still open for youth classes Registration is set to close Jan. 18 and 19 for a variety of youth sports classes to be presented by the city of Las Vegas at Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road. Among the classes are gymnastics, ages 2 and up; sports skills, ages 4 and up; Tae Kwon Do, ages 6 and up; basketball, ages 7-16; soccer, ages 4-14; and roller hockey, ages 8-16.
