FUND-RAISER Widmen Galleries plans MS benefit The Widmen Galleries, 4795 Industrial Road, has planned a benefit art event for the Multiple Sclerosis Society on Thursday. Both original works of art and reproductions will be up for silent auction with all the proceeds more than the minimum bid going to charity. Local artists will be on hand to discuss their work. The event is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. at the gallery. For more information call the gallery at 795-0003.
HONOR Local trial lawyer wins top award Richard W. Myers, Esq., was chosen as the 2001 Nevada Trial Lawyer of the Year. Myers was honored last month at galas in Las Vegas and Reno. The Nevada Trial Lawyers Association (NTLA) Board of Governors annually recognizes an outstanding trial lawyer who upholds the honor of the legal profession, protects consumers and advances the cause of individuals who are wrongfully injured. Myers is active in the community and is the chairman elect of the Nevada Law Foundation Board of Trustees. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is an invited member of the American Board of Trial Advocacy. Myers' firm, Crockett & Myers, recently sponsored the fourth annual Home for the Holidays campaign designed to reduce the number of drinking drivers on the road. More than 200 Las Vegas residents who had been drinking were provided a free ride home this past Memorial Day weekend through Crockett & Myers donations. |
