Roosters fall to BravesVIEW NEWSPAPERS
The Roosters baseball team outhit the Braves last Sunday, but came out on the short end of an 11-8 count. With Brent Kaucky going 3-for-4 and Daniel Herndon, Keith Lawrence, John Stevens and Antonio Cortez collecting two hits apiece, the Roosters had a 14-9 advantage in hits in the contest against the Class AA team at Peccole Park. Pitchers Brock Metzka, Lawrence and Josh Frye combined for 12 strikeouts for the Class A Roosters, who are 5-13-1. While the overall record may be sub-standard, coach Lou Banuelos is happy with the effort of his team. The Roosters were at their best a week earlier when they scored six runs in the seventh inning and 11 in the ninth to rip the Eagles, 21-4, in Las Vegas. Daniel Herndon had a huge game going 6-for-6 with four runs and five RBIs. T.C. Crowell went 4-for-6 with three runs and five RBIs. Shawn Rosario was 3-for-4 with three runs and Marcos Cortez was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. |
