Jackie Aragon and Linda Sarson look over photographs taken when they were at Ground Zero. The pair, originally from upstate New York and New Jersey, drove nonstop to New York City as soon as they heard of the terrorist attacks. By the time they reached Kansas, they learned there were no survivors so they resolved to administer first aid to the firefighters.

They were nurses. They had worked in emergency rooms across the country. They were used to helping people deal with pain and suffering. But how could they be prepared to witness the suffering that awaited them at Ground Zero?
