Rough Riders
show results
The Pahrump Valley Rough Riders held their seventh show of the 2002 season on Aug. 17 at McCullough Arena.
In the 7-and-under age group, Tanner Bowman earned high point for the day. Tessa Perry finished in the runner-up position. Third place went to Kayla Ball, with Scott Swartzbaugh placing fourth. Levi Woodworth finished in fifth place.
In the 8- to 10-year-old age group Cassidy Bowman took the high-point award, with Daniel Hodge finishing runner-up for the day. The third place finisher was Alexis Hart. Stacie Henderson tied with James Hart for fourth place.
In the 11- to 13-year-old age group, Chantelle Smith earned high point, with Faith Richards and Jamie Martin tying for runner-up. Finishing in third place was Nathan Weisse, with Taylur Humbarger in fourth and Ashley Weisse in fifth.
In the 14- to 17-year-old age group, Robert Tibbits won high point for the day. Runner-up riders were Mandy Cox and Denae Henderson on her horse Jet. Jill Snelding, Jamie Shannon and Denae Henderson on the horse Black Jack, tied for third place honors.
Amber Perry took the high point award for the senior division, consisting of riders 18 years and older. Mindy Cox took runner-up. Bridget Hart finished in third with Bridgette Woodworth in fourth place. Sub-rider Bridget Hart also rode for Elaine Solzano and finished in fourth place.
The next show will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 19. Each participant is awarded ribbons for their rides. Time only rides are available in all events, at $3 for members and $5 for non-members. Anyone who wants more information may call B.J. Henderson at 751-0548.

Schooling shows
P.O.S.S. presents its 2002 show schedule: Sept. 14, Oct. 12 and Nov. 9. Awards will be presented at each show, except for the Buckle Series, in All Around High Point, Youth 12 and under, Youth 13-17, Senior, English/Western and Mini Horse high point.
New for 2002 will be a two-show buckle series: Nov. 9, daily high point winners earn buckle points. Buckles awarded at Nov. 9 show. A new program will be added called "The POSS-PAR." All shows will be at McCullough Arena. For entry forms or for more information, call 751-4920, 751-0579, 727-9576.
SOCCER
Elks Shoot to be
held tomorrow
Pahrump Elks Lodge No. 2796 will hold its Second Annual Soccer Shoot tomorrow at Honeysuckle Park Soccer field 2. This event is for kids ages 8 to 13 years old. Sign-ups start at 9 a.m., with the competition beginning at 10 a.m. Anyone who wants more information can call Kendall Poe at 727-8851.
RODEO
Annual military
event entries open
Entries are now being taken for The Fifth Annual Challenge of the Champions Military Rodeo, sponsored in part by Bill Heard Chevrolet and sanctioned by the Professional Armed Forces Rodeo Association. This show is open to all contestants in the events of saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding, chute dogging and ladies barrel racing. Entry fees are $50. The event will be held in McCullough Arena on Sept. 6-7 at 8 p.m. and on Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission; kids 10 years and under are free. GOLF
Knights tourney
set for Sept. 7
The Third Annual Knights for Molested Children golf tournament will be held Sept. 7 at Willow Creek golf course. The format will be a four-man scramble. A raffle will be offered. Entry fee is $50 and there is a sponsorship of $100 per hole. Anyone who wants more information is asked to call Lewis Beaver at 727-1327 or Kay Ellis at 727-7753.
