Minor league team
plans open recruiting
The Nevada Falcons, a minor-league developmental professional football team, has scheduled an open recruiting camp at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cashman Middle School, located on Desert Inn Avenue and Arville Road.
The registration fee is $25 for new players, while returning players can register for free.

SOFTBALL
Heritage Classic
seeking teams
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will accept registration for the Heritage Classic softball tournament from Monday through April 18 at its sports office, located at 298 Arroyo Grande Blvd.
Teams may register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
The registration fee is $200 per team and competition will be held in the men's D and men's E divisions. The tournament is slated for April 20 and 21. Those interested can call 434-4131 or (TDD) 566-2710.
EQUESTRIAN
Horseman's group
plans first show
The Nevada State Horseman's Association, Region V, has scheduled its first show of the year on March 23 and 24 at Horseman's Park, located at 5800 E. Flamingo Road.
The show is slated to start at 8 a.m. each day and the event is free and open to the public. The show is open to all breeds of horses and riders of all ages.
Classes offered during the show include a wide range of equestrian events, including halter, bareback equitation, English pleasure, Western pleasure, showmanship and horsemanship. Other events, new to the show this year, include reining and Gymkhana events such as barrel racing, pole bending and keyhole.
Other shows are scheduled for April 13 and 14, May 25 and 26, June 14 and 15, Sept. 28 and 29 and Oct. 26 and 27. All shows take place at Horseman's Park. Those interested can call Roland Timney at 270-4651.
SOCCER
Pro exhibition
game scheduled
The Las Vegas Soccer Spectacular -- a preseason women's professional soccer game between the San Jose CyberRays and the San Diego Spirit -- is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. March 23 at Cimarron-Memorial High School.
The game, which will benefit the UNLV Women's Sports Foundation, is expected to feature United States Olympic medalists and World Cup champions Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy, Joy Fawcett and others, as well as players from the Brazilian and Chinese National Teams.
All tickets are general admission and cost $15 apiece. Those interested can call 895-1943 or purchase them at several local outlets, including The Jock Shop, Soccer World, Village Runner, Sportco, UNLV Ticket Outlets and the Summerlin Home Finding Center.
BASEBALL
Clinic open
to young players
Fall Baseball in Summerlin and the Summerlin Little League will host a baseball clinic with the UNLV baseball team from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Summerlin Trails No. 3 Field.
The clinic is open to all players ages 11 to 18. Those interested can call Lee Riback at 869-1952.
BIKING
Tour de Summerlin
set for April 6
The Howard Hughes Corp. will host the Tour de Summerlin, a non-competitive bike ride featuring 10-, 30- and 50-mile courses, on April 6 at The Gardens Park, located at 10401 Garden Park Drive, east of Interstate 215 and south of Desert Inn Road.
The event, which will also feature stunt bike demonstrations, a children's bicycle safety program and food and entertainment, is open to the public. Pre-registration entry fees are $15 for the 10-mile ride, $35 for the 30- and 50-mile rides, and $40 for a group or family of four for any distance.
The registration fees the day of the race will be $20, $40 and $50, respectively. Participants will receive a T-shirt, goody bag, raffle ticket and food and beverages, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Outside Las Vegas Foundation.

Those interested can also call 791-4275.The city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled its March Madness Shootout basketball competition from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, located at 1575 Galleria Drive.
Registration is free and open to all boys and girls in grades six through eight.
Participants shoot from different areas on the court and prizes will be awarded to all contestants. Those interested can call 450-5885.
