COLUMN: Spring break coming for community college

Our column for March is just in time for announcements about our mid-semester break schedule. Spring recess for the Community College of Southern Nevada is from March 24 through March 31: no college classes will be held at the Pahrump Valley Center. Regular college classes will resume on Monday, April 1.

However, the building will remain open that week during the regularly scheduled hours of operation for Pahrump Valley High School, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The following week is the Spring Break for the Nye County School District, and no high school classes will be meeting at the Pahrump Valley Center through the week of April 1-7. The Pahrump Valley Center will resume its regularly scheduled hours of operation that week, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The computer lab will be staffed to correspond with the above stated schedule.

We are in the process of scheduling classes for both the Summer and Fall semesters. We are very excited to be able to offer on-campus programming for the first time during the summer in our new facility, in addition to the full schedule of classes already offered through Distance Education.

We will have a booth at the Business Expo this weekend, and hope to have a completed list of summer classes available at that time. Please stop by. Our friendly staff will be happy to provide more information about summer classes, or to answer any other questions you may have.

We also encourage your input for the types of classes you would like to see offered at the Pahrump Valley Center. We will have lists available, and welcome your comments.

Please feel free to stop by our office at 551 East Calvada Blvd. for more information as well, or call us at 537-2701.

Kelcy Thompson is the manager of the Community College of Southern Nevada Pahrump Valley Center.
