CHARITY

Business planning

children's Easter fair

Southwest Engineering needs help to put on an Easter carnival and barbecue for the children of Child Haven. The 701 N. Pecos Road county facility provides housing for an average of 120 to 130 abused, abandoned and neglected children. The average stay is 28 days, but many remain as long as three months. Businesses and individuals are asked to sponsor, set up and run free carnival booths for the children's Easter festivities. Booth ideas include a ring toss, a fish pond, a cupcake walk and a ping-pong throw. Volunteers also are needed to sponsor and run food booths with popcorn and Sno-Cone machines. Booths are scheduled to be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on April 19. Business owners who can't sponsor a booth are invited to donate plastic Easter eggs, Polaroid film, individually wrapped candy or books. For a complete list of donation items or to volunteer to run a booth, call Flora Jackson or Judy Dimmick at Southwest Engineering at 648-9700.
