International to meet
Jewish Women International Summerlin Chapter-1827 has scheduled its next meeting for 9 a.m. on Feb. 19 at Garduño's inside the Fiesta, located on Smoke Ranch at Rancho Road.

Children win
Summerlin contest
For the 12th consecutive year, Summerlin children have depicted the abundant amenities and activities of America's best-selling, master-planned community in the annual 'Why I Love Summerlin' Valentine art contest, said Tom Warden, vice president of community relations for The Howard Hughes Corp.
This year, 18 schools were invited to participate in the contest. Of the numerous entrants, six winners representing different age groups were selected.
Winners will receive a $50 Best Buy gift certificate and their drawings will be featured in a special Valentine ad in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Members of The Hughes Corp.'s marketing and community relations departments judged the entries.
The winners include 7-year-old Spenser McDonald, 12-year old Brittany Korcal, 3-year-old Shamzi Alkaff, 15-year-old Michael Miller, 8-year-old Abigail Tighe and 17-year-old Rachel Zareb.

Adoption a dog
or cat for $14
The Lied Animal Shelter will offer pet adoptions for just $14 through Valentine's Day.
The shelter staff is encouraging locals to "meet the love of their life," a homeless dog or cat. The adoption fee includes a free spay or neutering, a microchip, vaccinations and dog or cat food.
The shelter, at 655 N. Mojave Road, just north of Bonanza, is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 384-3333.
