NFL contest

REGISTRATION
City setting up hoops, softball leagues
The city of North Las Vegas has scheduled registration for its adult basketball and softball leagues.
The registration fee for the basketball league, which will play its games at the Silver Mesa Recreation Center and the Neighborhood Recreation Center, is $325 per team, while the fee for the softball league, which will play its games at the Cheyenne Sports Complex, is $375 per team.

BASEBALL
LVBA sets up
skill clinic dates
The Las Vegas Baseball Academy has scheduled a pair of skills clinics for Monday to June 11 and June 16-18 at the Boys and Girls Club West, 2850 S. Lindell Road. The clinics, open to ages 7-14, are slated to run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day for offensive skills and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for defensive skills. Campers who attend both sessions will receive a 10 percent discount.

Redrock league
sets registration
Redrock Little League has scheduled fall-ball registration at Dexter Park, 800 Upland Blvd., from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday and June 12; from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and from 5 to 9:30 p.m. June 10.

Henderson league
prepping for season
The Henderson AYSO soccer league has scheduled registration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Paseo Verde Library, located at 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

AYSO offers
youth registration
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) has scheduled registration for its fall season from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14 at The Trails Community Center, 1910 Spring Gate Lane.
Registration is also slated from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 6 to 9 p.m. June 11 at The Garden's Community Center, 10401 Garden Park Drive.
The league is open to all players born on or prior to Jan. 31, 1999. AYSO is an entirely volunteer organization and parent and adult participation is needed. Those interested in being a coach or referee can also register and clinics will also be offered. Those interested can call 615-4422.
Shadow Ridge
plans girls' clinic
Shadow Ridge High School has scheduled its girls soccer clinic from 8 a.m. to noon Monday to June 12 at Leavitt Middle School, 4701 Quadrel St.
The cost for the clinic is $70 and players must bring sunscreen, water, shin guards, athletic shoes and a signed insurance waiver/permission form.

Team Fury looking
for youngsters
Tryouts for Team Fury, which competes in the under-11 division in the Nevada South Youth Soccer League, are scheduled for 9 a.m. June 14 at Leavitt Middle School, on Lone Mountain Road, one block west of Buffalo Drive. No experience is necessary and there are no monthly fees. Players need to bring cleats, shin guards, shorts, water and a size four ball.

Academy to host
camps at Palo Verde
The Ultimate Soccer Academy has scheduled several five-day soccer camps at Palo Verde High School, starting Monday to June 13, with other sessions slated for June 23-27, July 7-12, July 21-25 and Aug. 4-8. Half-day programs run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 4-7, while full-day programs are also offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 7-16.

Anthem member
wins amateur title
Kim Boykin of Anthem Country Club recently fired consecutive rounds of 73 to win the Women's Southern Nevada Amateur Championship at the Silverstone Golf Club.
Dianne Jett of the Las Vegas Country Club was the overall net winner, with net rounds of 67 and 62. Jean Tenhulzen and Pam Downey won titles in the ages 50-59 group, Rita Revello and Judy Weniger won the ages 60-69 group and Barbara Christensen and Marjorie Galitz captured crowns in the ages 70 and older flight.
VegasGolfer event
coming up
The VegasGolfer Magazine Junior Amateur Tournament, to benefit The First Tee of Southern Nevada, is scheduled for June 16 at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Registration for a foursome costs $1,250 and each player will receive four AJGA gift bags, breakfast, a barbecue lunch buffet and four reception tickets, along with a silent auction and awards ceremony.

Shadow Ridge

Shadow Ridge High School has scheduled a basketball camp for boys entering grades six through 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to June 13 at Leavitt Middle School. Registration is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Middle School, located on Lone Mountain Road, a block west of Buffalo Drive.
