Communicators to
feature Goodman
The International Association of Business Communicators Las Vegas Chapter's monthly gathering will feature Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman.
The June 13 luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be held at the Las Vegas Country Club. Goodman will recognize the efforts of the volunteers who make IABC Las Vegas a success.

Henderson starts work on Cinnamon Ridge
The city of Henderson, partnering with Beazer Homes, recently broke ground on Cinnamon Ridge Park, off Burkholder Boulevard across from Cinnamon Ridge Parkway and adjacent to Basic High School. The eight-acre park will feature two peewee soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds and other amenities. The city's Parks and Recreation Department will operate the park, one of the many Henderson turnkey parks. Completion is slated for the fall.

Reynolds Foundation awards grants
The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation has awarded three grants totalling $54 million for cardiovascular clinical research. Both Johns Hopkins University and Harvard Medical School with its Harvard-affiliated Brigham & Women's Hospital will receive $24 million over four years to establish the Donald W. Reynolds Cardiovascular Clinical Research Centers, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas will receive a supplemental one-year grant of $6 million for its center, established in 1999.

Helen Myers has opened Myers Mediation in Las Vegas, a practice handling general mediation cases and focusing on business, professional, workplace and employment conflict resolution.

Alum gives to
business school
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, College of Business recently announced that alumnus Michael Shustek and his company, Vestin Mortgage, have pledged $250,000 to the college for faculty recruitment, development and retention.
College of Business Dean Richard Flaherty said the gift comes as the college embarks on an aggressive strategic plan to transform itself into a premier business school.
