Each year, the Nevada Ballet Theatre showcases its teen members in a fashion show. This year's festivities are scheduled for Sunday at Nordstrom inside the Fashion Show mall.
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. with a breakfast, after which guests will proceed to an upper floor where a stage is located. More than 75 young males and females will showcase new Spring fashions from Nordstrom for hundreds of guests.
Funds generated from the event will support the theater's scholarship and community outreach programs.
"Last year's event was a tremendous success, thanks to the support of families and businesses in the community," said Denise Cashman, co-chair of the event for the past two years.
"We feel this event is important because it touches, in a positive way, a segment of our city that is sometimes neglected, our teenagers," said Lee Medick, event co-chair and a Nevada Ballet Theatre board member and president of MRC Group.
Alan Morrell, Nordstrom Las Vegas store manager, is enthusiastic to be taking a lead role in this year's event.
"Nevada Ballet Theatre is one of the premiere performing arts organizations of the state, and we are thrilled to be able to work with this exceptional organization," Morrell said. "It's also a great opportunity for us to be able to show customers our selection of some of the season's most exciting new prom and special occasion looks."
In addition to the fashion showcase, there also will be a raffle with prizes from sponsors such as Continental Airlines and the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas.
There is no charge to model, but each participating teen is committed to selling two tickets at $85 per ticket. Nordstrom will outfit and provide runway coaching for models. Teens do not have to be members of Nevada Ballet Theatre to participate, but numbers are limited to the first 75 respondents.
