SOCCER
Academy to host camps at Palo Verde
The Ultimate Soccer Academy has scheduled several five-day soccer camps at Palo Verde High School, starting June 9-13, with other sessions slated for June 23-27, July 7-12, July 21-25 and Aug. 4-8. Half-day programs run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 4-7, while full-day programs are also offered from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 7-16.
Full-day programs will feature indoor soccer during hot afternoons and all players will receive a soccer ball and T-shirt. Boulder City provides
special AYSO program
The AYSO soccer league in Boulder City is offering its Very Important Players (VIP) program for the second straight season. The program provides a quality soccer experience for children and adults with physical or mental disabilities. The registration fee is $40 per player and includes a full uniform and trophy. Registration is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17 in Boulder City. Registration is also scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center in Henderson and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7 at the Paseo Verde Library, located at 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.

Palo Verde hoops camp set for June 9
The Palo Verde basketball camp, open to boys and girls in grades two through 10, is scheduled for June 9-12. The registration fee is $125 and includes a camp basketball, reversible jersey and awards. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Candlelighters Kids Cancer Camps.

Blazer instruction
to offer 2 sessions
The 11th annual Blazer Basketball Camp has scheduled two sessions, from June 9-12 and from June 16-19, at Durango High School. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 16. The registration fee is $125 per player and includes a camp T-shirt, Blazer mesh shorts, a camp photo package, a Blazer basketball and more.

Sierra Vista has scheduled a basketball camp Monday to May 16, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., open to boys and girls in third through 12th grade.

Senior teams seek new players
Senior women's softball teams need players for several different age groups, including three 45-and-older squads, as well as a 55-and-older, 60-and-older and 65-and-older team. Teams play in local and national tournaments, as well as in the city women's league and at Sun City Summerlin on Saturdays, for all levels of players.

The Club at The Cannery has scheduled its first professional boxing event at 6 p.m. tonight, with the six-bout card promoted by legendary pro boxing referee Richard Steele. Spring Swing tourney set for June 4

USGA Foundation helps local program
The United States Golf Association Foundation recently presented a check for $44,000 to The First Tee of Southern Nevada. The grant will support The First Tee's new Adaptive Golf Program, which provides basic golf and life skills to youth with mental and physical challenges. The grant is part of the USGA's "For the Good of the Game" initiative, a 10-year, $50 million commitment to programs and projects that make golf more affordable and accessible to those who face economic or physical challenges.
The program will be offered in early June at Parks and Recreation Centers in North Las Vegas and Henderson. Scramble to benefit
boy's soccer team
