AUDITIONS
Academy hosts fall auditions
The Las Vegas Academy is slated to host a fall audition for interested students who are entering grades 9-11 in the 2004-2005 school year on Aug. 16 at the school.
Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade-point average and meet additional audition requirements before being accepted. Audition information is available at http://ccsd.net/schools/LVAISPVA/ or by contacting the school between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 799-7800, ext. 219.
ART
Aerial Gallery artists featured
A new exhibition of original artworks is slated to open Friday and run through Oct. 8 at the City Hall Bridge Gallery.
The exhibit, "Viva Downtown: Celebrating the Art of the Aerial Gallery" features works by local artists Harold Bradford, Ginger Bruner, Mark Burns, Diane Bush, Merrilee Hortt, Bobbie Ann Howell, Jim Pink, Pasha Rafat and Mary Warner, who have all displayed at the Aerial Gallery located on the second floor of City Hall near the information desk.
Admission to the gallery is free. Those interested can call 229-4674.

Mediators seek award nominations
Mediators of Southern Nevada is accepting nominations for its annual Peacemaker of the Year awards.
Members of the public are invited to nominate those who have brought peace to their lives or to the community in the following categories: business, community, court, family, youth, organizations, professional/volunteer mediator or other.
As part of Nevada Mediation Week, nominees will be honored at the Sept. 23 Peacemakers of the Year dinner at Texas Station.
