Gamma Delta Phi to host Toston tribute

Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Delta Kappa Chapter, is scheduled to host A Tribute to Roosevelt Toston Saturday at the Mandalay Bay ballroom.

Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner and tribute beginning at 7:15 p.m.

Tickets are $65 with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship program. Those interested can call 648-8530 or 642-9185.

Arts Society to do `Judas Maccabaeus'

The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, now celebrating in its 41st season, will present the oratorio "Judas Maccabaeus" at 3 p.m. Sunday at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall.

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, the disabled and military. Tickets can be purchased at the UNLV Performing Arts Center Box Office or by calling 895-2787.

Cheerleaders slated to hold tryouts

The Las Vegas Desert Heat All-Star Cheerleaders are holding tryouts for the upcoming season from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. March 31; 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. April 1; 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. April 2; and noon to 3 p.m. April 3 at the Fern Adair Conservatory, 3265 E. Patrick Lane.

Tryouts are open to boys and girls ages 3 and older. New members will be offered the chance to attend Cheer/Tumble Day Camps for practice from April 5-9 at 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. There is no charge for workshops and tryouts.
