Contractor of the Year Awards scheduled

The Nevada Contractors Association's fifth annual Contractor of the Year Awards are set for 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 30 at the Stardust.

KLAS-TV (Channel 8) meteorologist Kevin Janison will serve as master of ceremonies, and Miss Rodeo America Darci Robertson and cowboy poet Al Marquis will make appearances. Tickets are $20.

Local groups select new leadership

Four community business leaders have joined the University of Southern Nevada Foundation. The new board members are Ron Memo, general manager of OptionCare of Nevada; Joe Brown, president of Jones Vargas; Herb Hunter, Sprint sales manager; and Holly Steuart, general manager for KVVU-TV (Channel 5). Judi Woodyard, owner and broker of Commercial Associates, also has been appointed as the new treasurer for the foundation.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation has announced its 2004-05 Board of Directors. Executive committee members are Scot Siber, Sharon Oseas, Rene Meldrum, Yvette Harris, Marcela Custer, Michael Fishell and Margo Hendrickson. Board members are Colleen Alenik, Mark Balogh, David Brom, Danica Momcilovic Cook, Shawn Danoski, Linda Fishell, Dennis Lynch, Mary Miller and Leslie Whitehead and honorary advisory board members are Fred Albrecht, Pat Christenson, Danny Gans and George Garlock.
