Speed team to back
Santana's foundation
NHRA's Pedregon Racing announced a partnership with legendary musician and guitarist Carlos Santana to promote his and wife Deborah's Milagro Foundation.
Drivers Cruz and Tony Pedregon unveiled two special "Santana" paint schemes that will debut at the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals from Thursday through Sunday. Santana is scheduled to be on hand for the event.
As part of the partnership, which includes donations from Advance Auto Parts and Quaker State, proceeds will go to the Milagro Foundation. Special die-cast cars, manufactured by Action Performance, depicting the Santana paint schemes, also will be available to commemorate the occasion.
Tickets for the fourth annual NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals may be purchased by calling the Las Vegas Motor Speedway ticket office at 644-4444 or online at www.LVMS.com.
Youth urged to don costumes for races
Young drag racing fans attending the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday are encouraged to wear their costumes and trick-or-treat in the pits. NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series teams and sportsman racers alike will have candy in their pits for kids in costume.
Kids ages 12 and under also are invited to participate in a Halloween costume contest on Sunday. Entries will be accepted from noon to 2 p.m. at a designated booth under the main grandstands. Judges will choose five finalists, who then will be judged by the fans between the pro semi-final and final rounds. Prizes will be awarded by Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Team Rebel seeks
new members
Team Rebel Aquatics is a year-round competitive swimming team seeking new members between the ages of 5 and 18. The minimum requirement for a tryout is to be able to swim 25 yards in the pool using any stroke.
Tryouts are from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays except holidays. A birth certificate and a $50 registration fee are required for registration, held at the Buchanan Natatorium on the UNLV campus 5 to 7 p.m. weekdays. For more information, call 385-7946.

Bishop Gorman
plans annual tourney
Bishop Gorman High School will host its annual Gorman Golf Classic to benefit its tuition assistance program at Bear's Lake Best Las Vegas on Nov. 4. The day's festivities will include two hole-in-one contests; one courtesy of Las Vegas Harley-Davidson and the other courtesy of Centennial Toyota. Lucky golfers could end up driving away on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle or a 2005 Toyota 4Runner.
Arrival and registration begin with coffee and bagels at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start following at 10 a.m. Reservations for this annual event are $375 per golfer and include an 18-hole round of golf, golf cart, practice balls, team buy-ins, mulligans, buy-in for hole prizes, beer and water on the course, and a post-tournament gourmet luncheon and awards presentation.

Ladies Only benefit tourney planned
The fifth annual Ladies Only Scramble Golf Tournament to benefit Learning for Life is scheduled for Monday at TPC Summerlin.

Women's team is
in need of players
Senior Women's Softball continually recruits players for year-round play in the 40-, 50-, 55- and 60-year-old age groups. Depending on experience and skill level, there is both competitive tournament and recreational play in the league. The various teams practice and play at different times and places.

Outlaws help teach
beginning players
The Las Vegas Outlaws will offer beginner hockey classes for skaters ages 4-12 at the Las Vegas Ice Center, 9295 W. Flamingo Road.
Class times are 5:10 to 5:55 p.m. Wednesdays. The next session runs from Nov. 3 to Dec. 15. The cost for the seven-week session is $70.

LACROSSE
Local league looking
for school teams
The Las Vegas Lacrosse League is organizing boys and girls high school and middle school level lacrosse teams.
Established in 2001, with only two high school teams, the LVLL has experienced tremendous growth. Now, there are seven high school mens' teams, two high school womens' teams and four middle school boys' teams.
The league needs volunteer coaches and assistant coaches as well as parents to help organize new teams or to man existing teams. There also will be clinics in the fall.

Youth league sets
Saturday sign-ups
Registration for Nevada Youth Football League is ongoing from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the league office, 1651 S. Buffalo Drive, between Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.
Participants should bring an original copy of a birth certificate, a utility bill and a parent's drivers license. Registration fees for players ages 6 to 14 are $160 and for cheerleaders, $75. Players need to be present for weigh-ins.
