The Las Vegas Hawks 14-and-under baseball club is looking for experienced players for its travel team. Players must be born between Aug. 1, 1991 and Aug. 1, 1993.
The Live 2005 Fall Hoops league will begin play at the Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, on Friday and will run through Sept. 17. The cost is $275 per team plus a $20 officials fee per game. Registration requires a $60 deposit in case of forfeits.
Divisions include second/third grade, fourth/fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh/eighth grade and ninth-12th grade. Games in the second/third grade division will be held on Fridays while all games in the other divisions will be held on Saturdays.

YMCA holding Hoops sleepover
The Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane, will be holding a youth basketball sleepover from 5:30 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 26-27. The overnight camp will help youth develop fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. The cost is $97 per youth.
Other activities include film breakdowns, indoor swim time and fun prizes and giveaways. Each youth will receive a free shirt. The sleepover includes dinner and breakfast.

Palms hosting LV Goddesses auditions
Auditions for the Arena Football League's Las Vegas Gladiators Goddesses for the 2006 season will be held Aug. 13 and 16 at the Palms.On Aug. 13, at the Lounge inside the Palms Casino Resort, preliminary audition registration will begin at 8 a.m. with dancing beginning at 9 a.m. Finalists from the preliminary auditions will be asked to return for final auditions at 10: p.m. on Aug. 16 at Skinny Dip Tuesdays at the Skin Pool Lounge.
Promising dancers will need to come dressed to perform with full make-up and hair, jazz shoes, shorts, bare midriffs and light colored fishnets or bare legs. All applicants at preliminaries and finals will need to bring a headshot, resum and a valid photo ID. Applicants will be taught several routines for the preliminary audition and will be judged on dance ability, crowd appeal, showmanship, individual resum s and personality.

Gregory Scholarship Tournament on tap
The sixth annual Ann Gregory Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Saturday at the Silverstone Golf Course, 8600 Cupp Drive. The cost is $125 per player or $500 for foursomes and includes breakfast, lunch and greens fees.
Breakfast will be held at 5:30 a.m., registration at 6 a.m. and the tourney will start at 6:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. There also will be a chipping and putting contest as well as a hole-in-one car donated by Jim Marsh/Chrysler-Jeep.

TPC to hold tourney to support troops
In conjunction with the PGA Tour and the TPC Network, the exclusive TPC Summerlin along with TPC at The Canyons will host a unique, multi-course fund-raising event Aug. 16 in support of the national America Supports You program.
On Aug. 16, TPC at The Canyons will kick off the festivities with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start, which includes a continental breakfast. TPC Summerlin will then host a 2 p.m. shotgun start that features a barbecue lunch. Additionally, a host of special events and activities for the whole family will be announced.
The cost, $150 per person, covers either one or both rounds of golf. A number of sponsorship and donation opportunities are available.

LV Founders Shoot-Out scheduled for Aug. 22
The 2005 Las Vegas Founders Shoot-Out is scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Tournament Players Club at Summerlin and will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas.
Entry into the tournament includes an invitation for a player and a guest to the Draw Party, which includes food, beverages and entertainment at the JW Marriott at 7 p.m. on Aug. 21, a continental breakfast on Aug. 22, a gift package and a round of play with a professional. A luncheon will be held following play.

HOCKEY
Las Vegas Ice Center offers free lessons
The Las Vegas Ice Center, 9295 W. Flamingo Road, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Outlaws Youth Hockey, is offering free lessons for those who would like to learn to play hockey.
The lessons are open to beginning players, ages 12 and under, and will be held Saturdays from 12-12:45 p.m. There are three sessions left: Saturday , Aug. 13 and Aug. 20.
Equipment required for the lessons includes a helmet with a face mask, gloves and stick. Equipment recommended includes elbow pads, shin guards, hockey pants, shoulder pads and an athletic supporter. Skates are available for a $2 rental charge.
The NASF will hold its Midnight Madness tournament in Mesquite on Sept. 10. There are men's and co-ed divisions, a four-game guarantee and a 60-minute time limit on all games. Games will start at 5 p.m. on Sept. 10.
The tourney registration fee is $295 per team. A $3,000 Mizuno Award Package will be distributed among the top four teams.
There also will be a home run hitting contest which will cost $20 to enter. The winner of that will receive $500.
Discount rooms rates at the Oasis will be available for $39 per night.
An NASF World Qualifier, also with a four-game guarantee, in the men's division is set for Aug. 13 at Desert Breeze Sports Park.

Rec center to offer all levels of classes
The Downtown Recreation Center, 105 W. Basic Road in Henderson, will host table tennis classes for beginners and advanced players.
Beginner classes will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Mondays through Aug. 29. Registration is $21 per person (ages 8 and up). Advanced classes will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays through Sept. 7. Registration is $25 per player (ages 18 and up).

NTA set to hold annual camps
The Nevada Tennis Association's annual summer tennis camps are under way and run through Aug. 14. Each camp meets twice a week for two weeks. The fee for the camp is $10 and each participant will receive a free Head Jr. tennis racquet.
Players ages 7-12 that show promise will be selected from the camps to try out for the Future Stars program. Players selected for the Future Stars will receive free weekly group lessons and have the opportunity to play against kids their own age and skill level.

The 13th annual Blazers Volleyball Clinic will be held from Monday through Aug. 11 at Durango High School, 7100 W. Dewey Drive. The clinic is open for girls ages 10-18 and costs $125.
