Local executive named as Red Cross chairman

Jonathan S. Halkyard, senior vice president and treasurer of Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., was selected to hold the position of vice-chairman of the board of directors for the American Red Cross, Southern Nevada Chapter.

New Las Vegas Web sites are launched

Visitors to the city of Las Vegas Web site now will encounter a more user-friendly experience. The city recently launched a new Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov that presents information in an easy-to-navigate manner that deviates from the traditional government Web site layout.

The Web site continues to offer an array of services including sewer bill and parking ticket payment, traffic cameras, agendas and submission of citizen complaints for topics ranging from traffic concerns to animal control.

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District announced today it has launched a redesigned Web site. The redesign was undertaken to help access to the district's electronic resources. The site can be found at www.lvccld.org.
