Volunteers needed at Red Rock Canyon

Friends of Red Rock, Get Outdoors Nevada and the BLM invite residents to participate in World Environment Day. The hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday will be devoted to making repairs and improvements. Bring work gloves, sunscreen and bottled water.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to participate. Those under 18 must have a parental consent form.

Musical to celebrate Charlie Brown

Desert Spring Arts, 120 N. Pavilion Center Drive, plans to put on the musical "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" 8 p.m. June 17, 18, 24 and 25.

The play is directed by Tony Cobb and choreographed by Gwynne Lloyd-Hughes.

Tickets are $15 or $7.50 for seniors, military, disabled and children under 12. Tickets can be purchased online at www.desertspringarts.org or at the door. Call 256-5933 for more information.

The circus is coming to Orleans Arena

The 135th edition of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey The Greatest Show On Earth is slated to be at The Orleans Arena June 23-26.

Outdoor festival marks an end to slavery

The fifth annual Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival is set for 4 to 9 p.m. June 18 at the Sammy Davis Jr. Plaza, 700 Twin Lakes Drive in Lorenzi Park.

The free festival feature cultural activities, food and beverages. Juneteenth festivities mark the end of slavery in America.

Children to visit elderly in new program

Beth Am Adult Day Services, 9001 Hillpointe Road, a facility which provides day care for disabled adults and the elderly, plans to start an intergenerational program with Shenker Academy's pre-school and kindergarten. The children will participate in activities with day care clients.

History to come to life through Las Vegans

Tales from Classic Las Vegas, Conversations with Semi-Centennial Las Vegas Residents is planned for 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, in Lorenzi Park.

Seven long-time Las Vegas residents will share stories of life in the city from the mid-1930s to present day. Admission is free.
